FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much do your puppies cost?
Our puppy price is $1800.

The price of our puppies is a direct reflection of the time, dedication, and financial investment we put into our breeding program. We prioritize quality over quantity, with a strong commitment to producing healthy litters, maintaining quality dogs, and preserving the integrity of the Labrador breed.
All of our breeding dogs undergo extensive health testing that exceeds OFA CHIC standards. We only pair them with sires and dams who have equal levels of health testing, and are beautiful representations of the breed. Every breeding decision is made with the goal of improving and protecting the breed.
High-quality reproductive care is critical to ensuring the health and safety of the sires, dams, and puppies. When you consider everything that goes into a responsible breeding program, you’ll see that the cost of a well-bred puppy reflects much more than just the puppy itself.
Some of the many expenses we routinely invest in include:
-
Health testing (including OFA x-rays, advanced echocardiograms, DNA panels, and many more all preformed by board certified veterinary specialists)
-
Progesterone testing and regular bloodwork
-
Stud fees + shipping fees
-
Artificial/ Transcervical insemination (TCI)
-
Pregnancy ultrasounds and X-rays
-
Emergency and planned C-sections
-
Whelping and neonatal supplies
-
Puppy vaccinations and vet care
-
AKC registration
-
Participation in dog shows and training
-
Etc.
Reputable breeders don’t cut corners. We do this because we love the breed and are committed to doing things the right way. If a puppy is priced “cheap,” it likely means corners were cut—often at the expense of health, temperament, and ethical practices.
If you express interest in acquiring one of our puppies, kindly navigate to our contact page.
We will then send you a puppy questionnaire form. If we determine that you’re a good fit for one of our puppies, we will contact you to set up a phone call. This will allow both parties an opportunity to address any questions that may arise. After we review your application and have a phone call, we will add you to our waiting list. Everyone on our waiting list is automatically added to our automated email messages. This is where we send out regular Westport updates, reminders, and any information. Once our puppies are born, and we know our puppy count, colors, and sex - we will talk about puppy placements and next steps.
IMPORTANT:
Our waitlist is not first come first serve.
When there are more families than available puppies, we give priority to those who have shown commitment through maintaining consistent communication. Our waitlist does not require a deposit, so the main way you show your commitment is through staying in touch during your wait. We expect to hear from you every 1-2 months.
Our puppies are not made to order - they are living, breathing beings. Our goal is to match each puppy with the family that is the best fit. The more we get to know you, the more confidently we can make those thoughtful placement decisions. Don't be hesitant to reach out! When you buy a puppy from us, you become family - and that starts before you bring your puppy home.
I'm interested in a Westport puppy. Now what?
Do we get to pick our own puppy?
Our puppy questionnaire is designed to help us get to know you, your lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a puppy. This information is an essential part of our matching process. We spend every day with our puppies from birth until they go home, getting to know their unique personalities, quirks, and needs. That intimate understanding—combined with temperament evaluations, ongoing communication, and your questionnaire responses—allows us to thoughtfully match each puppy with the appropriate home.
While buyers are able to indicate their preferred sex and color, we do not guarantee the availability of a specific puppy. Instead, we focus on matching each puppy to the right family based on personality, temperament, and activity level. This ensures both the puppy and the family are set up for long-term success.
Our goal is always to make the best possible match. For example, placing a calm, easygoing puppy with a family seeking a high-drive performance or sport prospect would not be fair to either the puppy or the owners. Every placement is made with intention, care, and the best interest of both the puppy and the family in mind.
I am an out of state buyer. How do I get my puppy?
While we encourage all of our puppy buyers to travel to pick up their puppy, we can help arrange ground and flight transportation options for our buyers.
Am I guaranteed a puppy after I am approved for the waiting list?
Please note that we never guarantee a puppy to anyone on our waiting list. We are working with live animals, and nature is inherently unpredictable. We cannot control whether a breeding results in a pregnancy, how many puppies will be born, or the outcome of the litter. We've seen everything from single-puppy litters to unsuccessful pregnancies—these are all part of the reality of breeding.
We ask that all potential puppy families remain patient and flexible, understanding that breeding is never a certainty. In the event a breeding does not take or only a limited number of puppies are born, we will offer you the choice to either wait for our next planned litter or be referred to one of our trusted breeder friends.
We maintain close relationships with several reputable breeders who share the same ethics, health standards, and bloodlines. In fact, many of our dogs are related, and we collaborate closely to help ensure each puppy finds the right home.
